Formula One Round two, Imola Italy

       The pace car and track marshals got their workout as intermittent wet conditions played havoc on the Nothern Italy second round of the 2021 Formula One season, in Imola.  Sergio Perez flanked one side of Lewis Hamilton while Max Verstappen was able to find the apex of turn three ahead of Hamilton, putting Red Bull in first place pursued by Hamilton's Mercedes and LeClerc in the Ferari.    The chaos of borderline wet and dry conditions left a single dry line on the circuit set car after car off the track, some more devastatingly than others.  The most spectacular being contact between Bottas and Russel, who were both physically fine, which is a grim reminder considering the final resting spot of the incident, although the emotive nature of the crash was lost on the two drivers who let their emotions get the better of them as they exited their dismembered cars.     As the calamity continued to ensue, a fantastic final battle for sec...

Season Opening Weekend Qatar/Bahrain

 Bahrain, in Formula One, Hamilton masterly keeps Verstappen at bay in the final laps to secure the win for Mercedes, with Bottas rounding out the podium for Mercedes.  Ferrari and Red Bull show pace to challenge the Mercedes team following floorboard aerodynamic regulations which Mercedes and Austin Martin teams did not miss a chance to lament. In Qatar, MotoGP youngblood Bagnia takes pole with Yamaha poised at the front to attack Ducatti"s unrivaled straight-line speed.  Zarko pulling a new GP speed record of 225mph, showed the field the mountain of speed the teams are facing in the Ducati's. It was a flurry of red as 4 Ducatti surged to the front, but engineering and racecraft reeled in the scarlet wave, as the Ducattis and Quatarraro on the factory Yamaha spent too much rubber from their tires.  Maveric Vinalles was the Top Gun making a campaign to the front, then set a pace that no riders in the field could answer.  As with 2020, the Suzukis were the d...
